For nearly a half century, Kaman Aerospace Corporation has been one of America's leading aviation subcontractors. A division of the Kaman Corporation, Kaman Aerospace uniquely brings the turnkey capabilities of one of the world's leading primes to your subcontracting project.
How We Began
In 1945, a young aeronautical engineer and inventor, Charles H. Kaman, founded Kaman Aircraft Company. The three pillars of strength on which it would build a billion-dollar global business were:
- Technical pre-eminence
- Fiscal restraint
- The dedication to our people
At the time Charles Kaman pioneered the helicopter, vertical flight was still in its infancy. With a vision of military and civil applications, Kaman and his teams focused on developing rotary aircraft technology...establishing the aerodynamics, exploring new materials, expanding manufacturing capabilities. It didn't take long for the new company to gain a reputation for innovation and excellence. Within a few years, manufacturers of all types of aircraft were seeking out the Connecticut company for assistance with their own programs.
Subcontracting: The World's Major Aircraft Companies Trust Kaman
By the 1950s, commercial and military aviation requirements had greatly expanded. In response to this demand, the company started to diversify. We began subcontracting our engineering, testing and manufacturing skills to the major aircraft companies. Decades later, into the new millennium, Kaman remains the supplier of choice for the world's major builders of aircraft.
For example, most Boeing commercial airplanes have structural details and subassemblies manufactured by Kaman Aerospace subcontracts.
